Meherabad to Happy Valley - Walking & Car Trip
April 1923 - 1st Visit - Walked
Meher Baba stayed at Gulmai Irani's residence at Khushru Quarters. Apart from her family, the Zoroastrian community was hostile towards Baba and ridiculed Gulmai and her family. Baba stayed secluded in his room for 7 days, before exploring Ahmenagar for several days.
On the 30th April, Baba took a long hike with the men mandali to Happy Valley, some 14 miles / 22 kms north of Ahmednagar. They stayed at a duk bungalow, a government rest house for several days.
Baba celebrated Upasni Maharaj's birthday on the 3rd May, whilst still at Happy Valley and instructed his mandali to fast for 24 hours and cook food for hundreds of the poor from the nearby
village.
Late in the night, after the villagers departed, Baba left Happy Valley with his mandali at 11:30pm and walked back to Ahmednagar in the dark. They reached
their Khushru Quarters at 2:00am ( 4th May ) quite exhausted.
