1952  TOUR

 

Meher Baba and his entourage of male & female close followers ( mandali ) started their Western tour when they flew out of Bombay Airport on 18th April 1952 flying with TWA flight 905.

The flight route took then firstly to Dhahran in Saudi Arabia, then Cairo, Rome, Paris, Shannon in Ireland across the Atlantic to Gander in Canada and finally to New York, USA, arriving on the 20th April at Idlewild Airport.

19th April :  Arrive Dhahran airfield, Saudi Arabia  at 4am,   depart 4:45am

                    Arrive Cairo ( King Farouk the First Airport ), Egypt at 8am,   depart 9am

                    Arrive Rome ( Ciampino Airport ), Italy at 2:30pm,  depart  3:30pm

                    Arrive Paris ( Orly Airport ), France at 6:45pm,  depart 8pm

                    Arrive Shannon Airport, Ireland airport at 9:30pm,   depart  ~10:30pm

20th April : Arrive Gander Airport, Newfoundland, Canada at 4:30am,  depart ~5:30pm

                    Arrive New York's ( Idlewild Airport ) at 10:30am, depart midnight train ( 12am ).

21st April : Arrive Florence Railway Station, Sth.Carolina at 11am, depart 1:30am

BY CARS

21st April : Depart Florence, SC.  Arrive Myrtle Beach, Sth. Carolina - Meher Spiritual Center                       at 3pm.

T W A : Flight  881  -  Bombay - Cairo - Rome

 

Meher Baba's next visit was on 16th May 1958 on a TWA flight 881 from Bombay, India on his way to the USA on his last overseas tour which took him later to Australia and back to Bombay on the 8th June .

The plane stopped only for one hour for refuelling in Cairo, Egypt before flying to Rome, Italy.  Here they had several hours wait for the connecting flight to New York, USA, via Gander, Canada.
